Big Data analysis emerged with the availability of powerful algorithms facilitating the extraction, clustering and processing of large volumes of data. Its full impact on business processes is currently the subject of major debates, conferences and papers. Contrary to single-case scenarios addressing specific Big Data needs that specific companies have, this assessment study is to compile a range of possible applications and implementation scenarios in business organizations.

The analysis is to provide:

  • a catalogue of typical and possible business applications of big data analysis and a compilation of typical industry-specific user cases to be held against cases from the local corporate networks in CZ, D, and EST, sharing best practice examples
  • a framework for technology and cost-benefit assessment of big data applications in business and other organizational processes
  • guidelines for identifying innovation potentials of big data analysis in business organizations
  • models of organizations
  • a watchlist of relevant legal frameworks on data protection and handling
  • a definition of academic learning content and elaboration of case studies for transferring best Big Data practice examples into teaching modules (to be fed into IO 4 curriculum)
  • a catalogue of topics and research questions for PhD-studies and scientific publications
  • development of analytical tools (feasibility, implementation scenarios, learning and training content)
